Split Type A/C Maintenance

Maintenance of your split type air conditioner can be easy if you know what and what not to do. If you have the time to clean your air conditioner you can save some money for more serious repairs. We have some guidelines for you on how to make you split type air-conditioners sparkly clean.

  1. Prepare your wash bag that are customized for your split-type air conditioner. This bag will catch all the waste that will be removed from your air conditioner.

  2. The choice of the coil cleaner is very critical. Some harsher chemical cleaners might damage newer type air conditioners.

  3. Just stick to liquid solution type coil cleaners for they are milder than other chemical coil cleaners.

  4. Some foam spray coil cleaners might not penetrate the coils or rotor fan blades so avoid these type of cleaners.

  5. Be sure to install the wash bag around the air con so you don’t need to disassemble the air conditioning unit.

  6. When you start spraying the coils get the cleaner as close to the fins at an angle to make sure that the cleaner will reach the coil as far as possible.

  7. The rotary blades must be coated by the cleaning solution. Use a far reaching nozzle for this.

  8. Let the cleaning solution stay on the parts of your split type air-conditioner for it to do its work.

  9. After at least 20 to 30 minutes flush the rotary blades and the coil with water so that the dirt and grime will flow out via the drain pipe.

  10. Wipe the air conditioner dry afterwards and remove the wash bag and put it to trash properly.
